The Frostbite River Run is a fundraiser supporting programming and activities at Riverview Community Centre and part of the Riverview Winter Classic: a series of outdoor events held in January and February at the community centre embodying the spirit of winter sports in our neighbourhood.
The Frost Bite River Run is special for a whole lot of reasons…
- It’s happening in the deepest and darkest of winter months. Nothing says Winnipeg-tough like a winter run on a frozen river in January.
- Choose your distance – 5 miles or 5 kilometres. Run one event in person and register for the other and run it virtually.
- Great draw prizes and a special finishers medal!
- All net-proceeds support Riverview Community Centre programming and activities!
Many thanks to our main sponsors – Chaeban Ice Cream and A Phase Electrical.

The Frost Bite River Run events will all be virtual in 2022. In consideration of the health and safety of our runners and volunteers the Race Committee has made the difficult decision to shift our event to virtual participation only.
The rapid spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 and uncertainty around future public health restrictions make holding an in-person event far too risky for all involved.
We managed to host a very successful virtual Frost Bite River Run in 2021 and believe that transitioning to a virtual event in 2022 is the responsible thing to do.
Runners who have already registered for the in-person event will be contacted by the Race Director.
The Riverview Community Centre will be celebrating 10 years of hosting the The Frost Bite River Run in 2023. We look forward to bringing our wonderful runners together for an amazing 10th anniversary celebration on January 22, 2023!
