RV LOUNGE OPEN MIC IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!
Riverview’s very own open mic is back. The RV Lounge is an informal get-together every Tuesday night in the meeting room at Riverview Community Centre. The setting is intimate and friendly, and the performances are completely acoustic; that is, there is no PA system, but small guitar or bass amplifiers or keyboards are welcome. The acts range in abilities from raw beginners to accomplished performers, but in all cases, the audiences are very supportive. It’s a great spot to take the plunge for the first time or to try out your latest compositions or covers. Besides music in many different genres, the RV audiences have enjoyed spoken word performers, comics, and even a magician! So, if you’re a performer (or a wanna-be) at any level of development, or you’re simply looking for some easy-going entertainment and socializing – why not drop by the Club and see what all the fuss is about? The open mic events run from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, every Tuesday.
Besides artists and audience, the RV Lounge is looking for volunteers, including a convenor and someone to handle PR, mainly social media. The guy now running the show is the former Club GM, Andrew Ward. He’s doing a great job, but his other important commitments don’t allow him to carry on indefinitely. We know that there are many musicians and other artists of all levels of development amongst the Riverview crowd. The RV gang invites you to come on down next Tuesday and see what we’re all about.
