Learn to Make Ukrainian Easter Eggs!

Ukrainian women have been making pysanky in some form for thousands of years. Join in this age-old tradition!

Surrounded by the sweet smell of beeswax and vibrant coloured dyes, you will learn:

  • The techniques to make traditional Ukrainian pysanky using the wax resist (batik) method
  • Why pysanky were traditionally made in the spring, and by who
  • The protective features and talismanic quality of pysanky
  • The ritual around creating the eggs leading up to Easter
  • The pre-Christian origins of both the practice and symbols on the eggs
  • The difference between folk pysanky practice and contemporary pysanka artistry

Immerse yourself in this peaceful process and create in community.

All supplies required are included. Take home a beautiful finished egg for Easter.

Please note: we will be using open flame and beeswax, and utilizing whole raw eggs (not hollow) as done in the folk tradition. If you register a child (ages 7+), they must be accompanied by a registered adult.
