They have contributed to our neighbourhood for decades. They have brought comfort and joy to many. They are pillars of our community. And yet they are in danger because most have not been vaccinated.
I am talking about the beautiful elms that line our boulevards and grace our parks in the South Osborne neighbourhood. Did you know that a simple inoculation can protect a tree from Dutch Elm disease? Protection last for three years and possibly longer if trees are regularly pruned.
Friends of Fisher Park is inviting you to join us in helping to inoculate more trees. You can choose a tree in the park or one that is close to your home. We are working with Green Drop. They are going to inject one tree in Fisher Park for free as they did last year. Two neighbours of the park are each choosing a tree that they would like to save. The cost is $600 -$700, depending on the size of the tree.
Would you like to adopt a tree? Would you like to invite a neighbour to contribute some money and you could adopt a tree together?
If you are interested, please contact me lyndatrono@gmail.com and I will make the arrangements for you to meet with the folks from Green Drop to choose your tree.
