Congratulations to our U13 girls soccer team, who were crowned Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association champions on September 1st!
This group has been playing together at Riverview since joining the youth league at U9, building strong friendships and a strong team identity along the way. In their first year of playoffs, the girls put together an incredible undefeated season, earning their place in the championship final.
Originally scheduled for July 19, the final was postponed due to the extreme heat wave, leaving the team to wait weeks for their chance to compete for the title. On September 1st, they finally took the field — and finished their season as champions!
A huge thank you to our amazing and dedicated volunteer coaches, Kristin Shiach, Jordan Sobkowicz and Alex Rothney, who give so much of their time and energy to our youth. Their commitment helps make so many sports opportunities possible for young people in our community, especially for girls.
We are incredibly proud of this team, their dedication, and everything they have accomplished together. Congratulations, girls!
